Primary Responsibilities:
- Handle customer service requests on different types of network devices (Routers, Switches, Firewalls Security Gateways, WLAN devices);
- Design, plan, implement and offer support on Cisco technologies (N7k, N9k, N5k, VSS, ASR) for medium and large service providers (commercial and internal purposes);
- Provide end-to-end technical support for production Data Center Cisco networks, UCS domains highly virtualized, FC/FCoE SAN, EMC storage systems and OS/applications;
- Design, plan, implement and offer support on Dell EMC/VCE Vblock/Vxblock converged systems (Cisco UCS Blades, Nexus 9K, MDS, EMC Unity Storages and integration with NSX, VXLAN, SDN, NFV CSR1000V, ASAv, vFTD, F5 VE, PaloAlto VMs, NSX Edge etc.);
- Implement network security measures;
- Handle incidents and act as lead for complex problem diagnosis and resolution and perform root cause analysis for service interruption issues;
- Handle performance tuning and troubleshoot issues;
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategy;
- Ensure that system design complies with policies, standards, and principles;
- Provide quality project deliverables in engineering, support and/or consultation to other teams;
- Develop, display, and maintain metrics for performance or reporting purposes;
- Work closely with other teams on troubleshooting issues as well as planning requirements for new service;
- Automate administrative tasks using scripting languages;
- Work with diverse technical and non-technical teams, including Development, QA, IT Operations, Customer Operations and Project Management teams;
- Act as a point of expertise, advise others in the team on best practice and share knowledge;
- Create and implement change requests as needed;
- Structure, draft and review technical documentation, document technical requirements and processes for technical and non-technical audiences;
- Document standard operating procedures, diagrams, and training materials for use by the team.
Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of work experience as a Networking Engineer;
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP;
- Knowledge of switching technologies and protocols (VLAN, STP);
- Knowledge of security features and protocols (IPSec, NAT, RadiusTacacs, Dot1x);
- Knowledge of network monitoring applications and protocols (SNMP, NMS);
- Strong troubleshooting skills (able to analyze debug outputs and packet captures);
- 3+ years of work experience in an ISP or a telecommunication company;
- IT industry certifications represent a plus (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Comptia Security+, ITIL Foundation);
- Good understanding of data privacy and security considerations;
- Experience using virtualized environments public/private clouds (VMware, Windows Hyper-V, Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud);
- Fluent Romanian & Russian (spoken and written);
- English (spoken and written) is a plus.
